2025 Senior Class Rep
Kayleigh Akins
Meet Kayleigh, your 2025 Senior Model Rep! As she heads into her fourth year of JROTC at Astronaut High School, Kayleigh holds the impressive rank of Major (MAJ), serving as Chief of Staff for her battalion—and she’s the only female on the top 4 leadership team! A natural leader, Kayleigh has been awarded the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) Award and the Scholastic Excellence Award, presented by the American Legion Post 1, both honoring her for exceptional leadership and academic achievements.
But her dedication doesn’t stop there! Kayleigh is a powerhouse on multiple JROTC teams, including the Raider team, Drill team (armed, unarmed, and platoon), J-Lab Academic team, and she’s excited to join the Color Guard this year. Last year, her unarmed platoon drill team made it all the way to state! Beyond the classroom, Kayleigh is committed to giving back, whether it's cleaning up the community, helping at big events like the Sanford Air Show or Space Coast Marathon, or presenting Color Guard at local ceremonies.
Outside of school, Kayleigh has a passion for Tae Kwon Do. With 5 years of training under her belt (literally!), she’s earned her 2nd-degree black belt and has ranked in the top 5 in Florida as a tournament competitor. When she’s not competing, she’s volunteering, helping out with classes and summer camps for younger students at her school, Rocket TKD.
Being a Senior Model Rep is something Kayleigh truly enjoys. It’s more than just photos—it’s an opportunity to showcase her dedication to JROTC and Tae Kwon Do and gain recognition for her hard work. Her experience with Susan Alderfer Photography was nothing short of amazing. Kayleigh loved how comfortable and fun the photoshoot was, and she felt completely at ease being herself in front of the camera. From the goodie bag to the personalized attention, Kayleigh knew the shoot was all about her. She highly recommends being a Senior Model Rep to anyone looking to make their senior year unforgettable!
